Outpatient Services
Upon your initial appointment, you will meet one of our clinicians. He or she will complete a comprehensive psychiatric or psychosocial assessment so that your individual needs are acknowledged and incorporated into the treatment plan. The assessment may also include a recommendation that you seek medical follow up or laboratory testing to ensure your medical stability.
That clinician will then consult with other professionals within the clinic and may refer you to them to create a multi-disciplinary team of a psychiatrist/psychiatric nurse practitioner, therapist and dietitian. Your treatment plan will be the roadmap for your treatment process.

The REDI Clinic provides a level of outpatient psychiatry that is unmatched within the state of Wisconsin. Our team consists of two board-certified psychiatrists who specialize in treating eating disorders. Both specialize in working with children, adolescents and their families.
Our psychiatrists are a key part of our team and work with individuals regarding consideration of medications that may be incorporated into treatment of the eating disorder or other co-occurring conditions. In addition to medication management, they also monitor potential medical complications and work closely with patients' primary care physicians to ensure medical stability or coordination of a higher level of care when needed.
Establishing trust and a positive therapeutic relationship is the first goal of our therapists. We understand that eating disorders are not "just about the food," but rather eating disorder symptoms have core underlying thought patterns and emotional factors that are triggering the eating disorder behaviors.
We work with you to identify which of our therapists has the right therapeutic approach, experience and personality so that you feel comfortable. By exploring underlying emotions and interpersonal factors that contribute to your eating disorder, you will work with your therapist to replace unwanted behaviors and negative feelings with healthy coping skills, a strong sense of self and positive self-esteem.

Individuals often report feeling shame and a significant amount of isolation as a result of their eating disorder. Often times, individuals with eating disorders struggle to identify their errors in thinking as it relates to factors that perpetuate one's eating disorder. Group therapy gives you an opportunity to be in a safe and supportive environment with others that share similar thought patterns and experiences, while gaining the insight and feedback of others to help you in your recovery process.
The REDI Clinic offers weekly group therapy sessions. Whether attended solely or used in conjunction with individual therapy, group therapy can provide that added structure and support in your week to help manage your eating disorder thoughts and behaviors.
Eating disorders impact both individuals and family systems. Family therapy can help address the relational implications of eating disorders. Goals of family therapy may include education, enhancement of communication and boundary setting.

Art therapy groups offered at The REDI Clinic promote health and wellness through the creative process. Patients are able to safely explore their emotional experiences through therapeutic techniques that incorporate a variety of artistic processes ranging from painting and drawing to creative writing and poetry. The ultimate goal is to help provide patients’ access to their own self-expression as a tool in their recovery in order to encourage reflection, growth, and change.
Art therapy groups are offered weekly for the adolescent, young adult, and adult Intensive Outpatient Programs. Individual art therapy sessions are available to all outpatient patients upon request.
Helping you or your child learn how to eat healthy meals and snacks is essential to recovering from an eating disorder. The registered dietitians at The REDI Clinic provide nutritional services that establish normal and healthful eating patterns.
Beginning with a nutritional evaluation, one of our dietitians works with you or your child for the services you require. Outpatient treatment may include psychiatric services, as well as nutritional counseling and meal plans.
We work with each patient on a plan that is tailored to meet his or her individual needs. Let us help you learn to trust your body when it comes to the type and amount of food you eat. Our dietitians offer you the education and support you need to learn to eat healthy.
We provide you with structure and assistance when it comes to planning healthy meals. It is not only the amount of food that is required for a healthy body, but also the type. One of the treatment goals for you or your child may include a regular meal plan. With this, individuals know precisely what and how much they need to eat at each meal or snack. Such structure is extremely helpful when learning or re-learning how to eat.
Food brings with it anxiety and stress for those with eating disorders. That is why our dietitians offer nutritional field trips. We can accompany you or your teenager to a restaurant or grocery store. Having one of our dietitians by your side helps to reduce negative emotions and provides an educational opportunity.
